GetYourGuide vs Viator vs Klook in 2026: which one to use for a Lapland trip

We checked all three, and the official Visit Rovaniemi booking pages, for Rovaniemi on 13 October 2026.

Aino publishes this guide and is building a trip planning app of its own, launching in winter 2027. Every other app here is described from its own site and store listings, with prices dated.

GetYourGuide vs Viator vs Klook

Quick answer. For a winter trip to Rovaniemi, start with GetYourGuide or Viator. Both list hundreds of local tours, most of the ones we looked at had free cancellation up to 24 hours before, and both let you reserve now and pay later. Klook has far fewer Lapland activities, but it's an option if you already use it for other trips.

  • Several tours paid for in one cart: GetYourGuide (500+ Rovaniemi results).
  • The most Rovaniemi results, plus 5% back in rewards: Viator (600+ results).
  • Already a Klook user, or booking Asia and Lapland in one account: Klook (48 things to do on its Rovaniemi page).
  • Booking straight from local operators, in euros: Visit Rovaniemi, the official tourism site (583 activities listed).

All counts and prices as of 13 October 2026.

How do GetYourGuide, Viator and Klook compare for Rovaniemi?

Most comparisons of these three focus on Asia or the US. We looked at Rovaniemi instead. On 13 October 2026 we went through each site's Rovaniemi page, at least one Rovaniemi activity page and its help centre. We didn't make any bookings.

We also checked Visit Rovaniemi, because the official tourism site has its own booking pages for local operators.

What do they cost?

You pay the price on the listing, and the same tour can show a slightly different price on each site.

GetYourGuide and Viator both have a price match policy for lower prices you find elsewhere. GetYourGuide's best price matching covers the exact same activity under the same conditions, such as group size and inclusions, and refunds are at its discretion. Viator's Lowest Price Guarantee covers the same tour from the same provider, priced in the same currency.

Viator also gives 5% back in Viator Rewards on bookings made while logged in, which you can spend on a later booking within 180 days. Klook has its own credit, KlookCash. For what Lapland activities usually cost, see our guide to Lapland winter activity prices.

How to compare the same tour on all three

Some Rovaniemi operators sell the same tour on several sites. A few minutes of checking tells you where to book it.

  1. Find the operator's name. On GetYourGuide it's often in the tour description. On Viator, the operator's replies to reviews usually give it away. Arctic GM's snowmobile safari shows up both ways.
  2. Search for the same tour title on the other sites. On 13 October 2026, Arctic GM's "Drive New 2025 Snowmobiles on Arctic Safari" showed from $134 on GetYourGuide and from $135.50 per person on Viator. Both sites showed US dollars because of our browser settings, and we hadn't picked a date.
  3. Pick your real date and group size before you compare. "From" prices change with the date, and some Viator listings note that the price varies by group size.
  4. Look at where the reviews are. That same safari had 2,288 reviews on GetYourGuide and 214 on Viator. Reviews stay on the site where they were written.
  5. Check the operator directly. Arctic GM's own page for the tour showed the details and the meeting point, but we didn't see a price until a date is chosen. Visit Rovaniemi lists many operators with euro prices.

Don't read the top result as the best one. GetYourGuide says its ranking takes revenue into account, including supplier commissions. Viator's results page says "Revenue may affect this sort order."

Where GetYourGuide wins

GetYourGuide is the one to use if you want to book a whole trip's worth of tours at once. You add activities to a cart, which holds them for up to 30 minutes, and pay in one go.

Reserve now, pay later works with the cart too. If every activity in your cart qualifies, GetYourGuide charges for all of them 72 hours before the first one starts. You can pay earlier if you prefer.

There are limits. Pay later needs you to book at least 72 hours ahead, and only tours with free cancellation and instant confirmation qualify. If one item in your cart doesn't qualify, you can't check out with pay later until you remove it and buy it separately.

Where Viator wins

Viator, a Tripadvisor company, had the most Rovaniemi results of the three, at 600+. Its activity pages also show how far ahead people book. The Arctic GM snowmobile safari above is booked 44 days in advance on average, according to its Viator page.

Reserve now, pay later covers most Viator tours. You add a card at booking, Viator checks it with a one-dollar authorisation, and full payment is due 2 to 9 days before the tour. Pay later isn't offered within 3 days of travel or more than 12 months ahead.

Where it's weaker for a multi-day plan: we didn't find a cart on viator.com, so each tour went through its own checkout on the pages we checked. Your tickets also only arrive once you've paid in full.

Where Klook wins

Klook's Lapland range is the smallest of the three. Its Rovaniemi page still covers the main winter trips, with northern lights tours, Santa Claus Village visits, husky rides and the Polar Explorer icebreaker cruise.

Its activity pages have an Add to cart button, so you can buy several things together. The app's recent updates also mention an AI chatbot called Bee and a trip planner.

Klook's Pay Later only covers selected hotel bookings, so you pay for activities upfront. Cancellation terms are set per activity, so read them on each tour page.

Booking direct through Visit Rovaniemi

Visit Rovaniemi is the official tourism site for Rovaniemi, and its search listed 583 activities on 13 October 2026. Each activity page names the operator, gives their email and phone number, and has a Book now calendar.

Prices are in euros. Snowmobile safaris on the site started from 99 € for Arctic Lifestyle's short Snowmobile Sprint and from 113 € for a one-hour safari with Lapland Safaris, as of October 2026.

Each booking follows that operator's own terms. The site also warns that changing your date after booking might not be possible, so check it before you pay.

Visit Rovaniemi also says many activities sell out early from December to March, whichever site you use. Our guide to what to book before you go to Lapland covers which ones to lock in first.

What none of them does well

All four sell tours one at a time. As far as we could see, none of them puts your bookings into a timed plan for each day, with the drive between a kennel and your next pickup worked out.

So you still have to check the gaps yourself. If a husky safari runs until 12:30 and a snowmobile pickup is at 13:00 on the other side of town, no site will warn you.

A lot of activities also never reach these sites. Only 33% of experiences were booked online in 2025, against 64% of the travel market overall, according to the travel research firm Arival.

Frequently asked questions

Is GetYourGuide or Viator better for Lapland?

For Rovaniemi they're close. As of 13 October 2026 Viator showed 600+ results and GetYourGuide 500+, and most of the tours we looked at on both had free cancellation up to 24 hours before. GetYourGuide lets you pay for several activities in one cart. Viator gives 5% back in Viator Rewards when you book logged in.

Is it cheaper to book Lapland tours directly with the operator?

Sometimes, but check it tour by tour. The same Arctic GM snowmobile safari showed from $134 on GetYourGuide and from $135.50 on Viator on 13 October 2026. Look the operator up on Visit Rovaniemi or its own site and compare the price for your exact date.

Can I reserve Rovaniemi tours now and pay later?

On GetYourGuide and Viator, yes, for eligible tours. GetYourGuide charges your card 72 hours before the activity. Viator takes payment 2 to 9 days before, depending on the booking. Klook's Pay Later only covers selected hotel bookings, as of October 2026.

Does Klook have tours in Lapland?

Yes, but fewer. Its Rovaniemi page listed 48 things to do on 13 October 2026, including northern lights tours, Santa Claus Village trips and an icebreaker cruise. A Klook search for Rovaniemi returned 107 results, but that count includes hotels and car rental.

Can I book several activities in one checkout?

On GetYourGuide, yes: you add activities to a cart, and it holds them for up to 30 minutes. Klook's activity pages also have an Add to cart button. We didn't find a cart on Viator on 13 October 2026.
